Why parenting is its own sort of gamble.

After the Saturday morning of ...do we take Doug to the doctor or not...I was really thinking about how I don't need to go to a casino because I get enough of a gambler's high just with having children. Here is the start to my list...feel free to add to it:
Why having children is like gambling:

• Betting the odds whether it is worth a copay for piece of mind
• You must have a poker face for those times you want to smile and you can't (I suppose it could be also for the times you should smile and you don't want to)
• The odds are against you having a child who is shy and compliant so that you will most likely get a child who is exactly like you and therefore you butt heads most of the time
